Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 22, 2026
Self-Belief ("the app", "we", "us") is a calm reflection-coach app that helps you rebuild self-trust. We take your privacy seriously, especially because you may share personal and sensitive thoughts here. This policy explains what we collect, why, who processes it, and how you can delete it.
If you have any questions, contact us through our contact form.
What we collect
We only collect what the app needs to work.
Account information - Your email address (used to sign in, send verification/reset codes, and contact you about your account). - A password, which is stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider (Supabase). We never see or store your raw password.
Your content - Conversations and messages you exchange with the coach. - The daily promises you make and the record of those you kept ("your journey"). - A short "memory" note the coach distills from your conversations to personalize future responses. - Your self-trust state (kept count, streak).
Usage information - Counts used to enforce the free daily message limit. - Basic, non-advertising events (for example, that a chat was sent) so we can understand whether the app is working.
On-device only - Your daily-reminder notification settings stay on your device.
Technical information - Standard server logs (such as IP address and timestamps) generated by our hosting and infrastructure providers for security and reliability.
We do not collect location, contacts, advertising identifiers, or any data for advertising. We do not sell your data.
How we use your data
- To provide the core service: coach replies, personalized daily reminders and promises, and your journey history.
- To sync and back up your data so it is there when you reinstall or sign in on another device.
- To enforce usage limits and keep the service secure.
- To understand basic, aggregate product usage so we can improve the app.
Who processes your data (sub-processors)
We use a small number of trusted providers to run the app. Your data is shared with them only to provide the service, never for their own marketing.
- Supabase — stores your account and app data (database and authentication).
- Anthropic (Claude) — when you chat or request a reminder/promise, the relevant message text and your distilled "memory" note are sent to Anthropic to generate a response. Per Anthropic's commercial terms, API data is not used to train their models and is retained only for a limited period for safety purposes. See Anthropic's privacy policy for details.
- Render — hosts our backend server that processes requests.
- Resend — sends transactional emails (sign-up verification and password reset codes).
Because these providers may operate in the United States and elsewhere, your data may be processed outside your country.
How long we keep your data
We keep your account and content for as long as your account exists. Logs and limited safety-related data held by our providers are retained for shorter periods according to their policies.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time, directly in the app: open the app and choose Delete account. This permanently removes your account, conversations, promises, and memory note, and cascades across our database. If you need help, reach us through our contact form.
Security
- All traffic between the app and our server is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
- Access to your data is protected by per-user authentication tokens and database row-level security, so one account cannot read another's data.
- The keys that talk to our AI and database providers are kept only on the server and never shipped inside the app.
No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and limit who and what can access it.
Sensitive information and a note on care
Self-Belief is a reflection and self-trust coach. It is not a medical or mental-health service, and it is not a substitute for professional care. If you are in crisis or may be in danger, please contact your local emergency services or a crisis line immediately.
Please share only what you are comfortable having processed by the AI features described above.
Children
Self-Belief is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will update the effective date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app.
